Jelly Bean on the S3 – what’s new

Just like with every other update of the Android operating system, Samsung is planning to add some new features to its Touchwiz interface.

For example, when the Galaxy Note was upgraded to Android 4.0 earlier this year, users got a ‘premium suite’ that not only upgraded their phone to Android 4, but also gave users new features, programs and other improvements.

While the Samsung Galaxy S2 has received numerous phone of the year awards, users where unhappy about the plastic feel of the Galaxy S2. With the presentation of the Galaxy S3 it became clear that Samsung’s focus hasn’t necessarily been on making the best phone spec wise, but making the most user friendly phone ever.

Wireless charging for the S III confirmed

In the past few months we heard the rumor that the Samsung Galaxy S3 could be charged without a wire numerous times. Yesterday Samsung confirmed that it is indeed possible to charge your Galaxy S III by using a wireless charging kit.

OLED Association claims 4.6″ Super AMOLED HD Plus display

A lot of the rumors we have heard the last few months have been about the  Samsung Galaxy S3′s display. Most of those rumors where made by anonymous sources, all saying something different. This is why we still have no idea what kind of display the Galaxy S3 will use.

But on the 10th of April the OLED Association made some interesting statements. In a news report on their website they claim that the Galaxy S3 will feature an 4.6” Super AMOLED HD Plus display.

The reason this is interesting, is because the OLED Association is reputable source. They work close with Samsung (for example: the vice president of Samsung is part of the OLED-A) and other companies producing OLED’s.

Samsung confirms quad core exynos in the Galaxy S3

An Samsung exec has stated that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 will use Samsung’s new Exynos 4412 quad-core processor. The quad core CPU will not only improve performance, but will also increase battery life.

But thats not all the Samsung manager had to say. Over the last few years, Samsung has also worked hard on improving its in house telecom chip.  Their newly developped chip will combine long-term evolution (4G-LTE), telecommunications and W-CDMA (=3G) functions. Untill now, Samsung was dependend on the modem manufacturer Qualcomm for providing these chips.
