The American tech site TechRadar reports that they have gotten an anonymous tip that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be released for the Samsung Galaxy S3 on August 29th during the Samsung Unpacked event in Berlin.

Jelly Bean expected to arrive on August 29th

According to the source, on that day the new Galaxy Note 2 will be released and Samsung will make use of the event to also announce Android 4.1 for the Galaxy S3, Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note.

Jelly Bean was always expected for the Galaxy S3

That Android 4.1 Jelly Bean would find its way to the Galaxy S3 has never been a surprise. The Galaxy S3 currently is Samsung’s flagship device and Samsung is known to give support and updates to phones for years, don’t forget that the S3 has only been released a couple of months ago (maybe even weeks in some parts of the world!).

While we expected Android 4.1 for the Galaxy S3, we didn’t expect it to arrive this quick. It will be interesting to see how Samsung has planned to roll out the update for the various countries and different version of the Galaxy S3 around the world.

No official confirmation from Samsung

We must state that while we have a good reason to believe that what the source says is true, Samsung hasn’t given an official statement on this matter, so I guess we will have to wait until August 29th before we find out.

One thing is sure; when we get more information on the Jelly Bean update you will be the first to hear it here!
