Although a successor of the Samsung Galaxy S2 was announced months ago, the name of this mobile phone has been as mysterious as the phone itself.

After the Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy S II, the Samsung Galaxy S III looks like the logical choice. But in the ad campaign towards the May 3rd Samsung Mobile Unpacked event, Samsung was talking about “The Next Galaxy”.

During a recent press conference Samsung finally mentioned the Samsung Galaxy S3.

During the call the device came up a number of times. But as we would expect Samsung dodged using the Samsung Galaxy S3 name by stating things as:

We expect the phone to be the company’s most successful smartphone ever.

But, when Samsung senior vice president Robert Yi answered a question about the marketing strategy for the upcoming smartphone, Robert Yi finally mentioned the Galaxy S3:

We are anticipating very strong demand and the Galaxy S3 might see a global launch

In the last few weeks,  we already had various indications that Samsung would name its device the Samsung Galaxy S3, but now that we have heard a Samsung senior vice president mention the name, we can be sure that “The Next Galaxy” is the Samsung Galaxy S3.

There is only one thing we don’t know for sure, will the phone be spelled as the Samsung Galaxy S3 or Samsung Galaxy S III? I guess we will find out on May 3rd!
