We have talked about the Samsung GT-i9300 numerous times before on this site. Why? Because the GT-i9300 could be the codename for the Samsung Galaxy S3. Today Phonearena released a picture showing the GT-i9300, could this be the Samsung Galaxy S3?

Upon further investigation we don’t think that the Samsung GT-i9300 is the Samsung Galaxy S3, lets have a look at what we can tell from this photo.

According to Eldar Murtazin this is not the Samsung Galaxy S3, but a small Galaxy Note 2

Samsung GT-i9300 apps and Touchwiz

When we have a look at the various apps that can be seen on the screen, a few are worth mentioning. S-Memo, S-Planner and S-suggest are apps we know from the Galaxy Note line. Could this mean that the GT-i9300 will have Samsungs stylus, the S-Pen onboard?

The menu it tselfs looks very similar to Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), however the notificationbar and visible apps are part of Samsung’s own TouchWiz interface. Could this be a new version of the TouchWiz interface, TouchWiz 5.0?

Samsung GT-i9300 looks and display

The phone shows a lot of similaries with the Samsung Galaxy S2, but the edge around the device does look a bit bulky. Could it be that there is a protective cover around the device? When you have a good look at the phone it does look like there is some sort of protective bumper around it. But even without the bumper, there is still a big bevel, and not like we imagined the Samsung Galaxy S3 to be as we have explained in this article.

The Samsung logo is placed underneath the display. This is not what Samsung has recently done with phones in the Galaxy line, or the Samsung note. When looking at the top side we can see why Samsung did it, there is much more space for the Samsung logo underneath the display so the placement at the bottom does seem like a logical decision.

The screen looks big, but since nothing else to compare the phone with can be seen on the picture its hard to tell the exact dimensions. However taking into account that the buttons on the front are no longer hardware, but virtual and part of the screen, we can imagine the screen size to be around 4.6 inch. Does this phone future a 720p or even full-hd display? We don’t think so. When looking at the picture you can tell that there are 4 apps next to each other on every row, with the Galaxy Note having 5 apps next to each other, this means that this phone is running a lower resolution. Our guess is that the resolution is 800 x 480 pixels, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S2

Could the GT-i9300 be the Samsung Galaxy S3? We don’t think so, its more likely that this phone will be part of the Galaxy Note line, or perhaps its even the new and upgraded Samsung Galaxy S2. What do you think?
