According to SamMobile Samsung is planning to release a new battery for the Samsung Galaxy S3 with a much higher capacity. According to the source the new battery will have a capacity of 3000mAh, a huge increase over the standard 2100 mAh battery.

Not all the details are clear, so we don’t know how much bigger the new battery will be and how this will change the appearance and weight of the phone. We can imagine the new battery to increase the thickness of the Galaxy S3

When the Galaxy S3 first was released, it was available in only two colours: pebble blue and marble white. Recently Samsung has launched new colour variations onto the market, and today it looks like we can add another colour: Martian Pink.

Samsung has only released pink ‘lady version’ of the phone in South-Korea, Samsung’s homebase, so far. But we can imagine that if the colour becomes a succes there, we will also see the Martian pink version show up on other markets around the world.

Last week, security researches found a flaw in Samsung’s Touchwiz coding. This flaw could cause the phone to do a factory-reset without user-confirmation when visiting certain websites.

If you have the international version (the quad core version) of the Galaxy S3 your lucky, because only the US (Qualcomm) version can be affected by the hack.

Quickly after the security risk was found, Samsung rolled out a small update to fix the problem. So our advise to owners of the Qualcomm version of the Galaxy S3 to update there phone as soon as possible!

Here is Samsung’s statement:

“We would like to assure our customers that the recent security issue concerning the GALAXY S III
has already been resolved through a software update. We recommend all GALAXY S III customers to download the latest software update, which can be done quickly and easily via the Over-The-Air (OTA) service.”

The picture you see below, made by Daniël UY, has been going around the web for the last few days causing quit a buzz.

The picture shows a Galaxy S3 with on its screen a picture of the pants you see underneath the galaxy S3. The device is put in such a way that the picture and pants match.

According to the creator of this photoshop nothing has been photoshopped or changed in any way “what you see is what you get”. As always, lots of people around the internet (apple fanboy’s anyone?) believe the picture to be a fake.

Samsung has released a video in which they explain the design process of the Samsung Galaxy S3. It is an interesting video for everyone who loves their S3 and wants to know how it was made.

The video really focuses on how Samsung was inspired by nature and how they converted this look and feel into the design of the Galaxy S3. Although this is interesting to see, I would have loved to see more information on the various technologies that are used to produce the phone.

What I do love about the video is the part where they explain how they made the various sounds on the Galaxy S3, I never thought about the work that went into that before!

Samsung has just rolled out an Over-The-Air (OTA) update for the international Samsung Galaxy S3 version. Users in Europe (Netherlands), as well as Asia (Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam) have reported that an firmware update was available.

When I heard the words update and Galaxy S3 one thing came to mind, Android 4.1. But, unfortunatly we will have to wait a bit longer, because this update seems to fix some bugs, as well as update the internet browser. Its great to see Samsung releasing bug fixes even with Android 4.1 just around the corner!

After installing the version you will still have Android 4.0.4, the build number for this update is XXBLH1.

For now, the update only seems to be available for the unlocked international edition. Did you not get the update notification yet? Go to Settings > About device > Software update > Update, to manually check for an update. Of course, you could also try Samsung Kies for the update.

I guess the wait is over, because a couple of days ago a Garnet Red version of the Galaxy S3 showed up on the site of an European operator and on the site of an European phone company.

Just like with every other update of the Android operating system, Samsung is planning to add some new features to its Touchwiz interface.

For example, when the Galaxy Note was upgraded to Android 4.0 earlier this year, users got a ‘premium suite’ that not only upgraded their phone to Android 4, but also gave users new features, programs and other improvements.

It looks like Samsung is planning to do the same with the upgrade of the Samsung Galaxy S3 towards Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Today, the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) has announced the winners for the year 2012-2013. In the category mobile phones, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has won the award for the best mobile phone.

The American tech site TechRadar reports that they have gotten an anonymous tip that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be released for the Samsung Galaxy S3 on August 29^th during the Samsung Unpacked event in Berlin.

According to the source, on that day the new Galaxy Note 2 will be released and Samsung will make use of the event to also announce Android 4.1 for the Galaxy S3, Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note.
