We have heard various rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S3 might have a ceramic back in the past. If true, this will be a great improvement from the plastic back the Galaxy S2 used. According to various users the back of the Galaxy S2 felt a bit cheap.

A few days ago, Eldar Murtazin (who is known for his great connections in the industry) posted the picture you see above. With it he posted the following message:

Will the Samsung Galaxy S3 feature an ceramic back?

If what we see on the picture really is the Samsung Galaxy S3 remains unknown, since Eldar hasn’t responded to the various rumors he started by posting this picture. We can only guess that this really is the Samsung Galaxy S3.

A ceramic material has the advantage that its much stronger and durable, but it does weigh more compared to plastic.

To me a ceramic back sounded like something unrealistic, but after some research I found out that HTC is also using ceramic materials for its latest HTC one line (which, together with the iPhone 5, will be the direct competition of the Samsung Galaxy S3).
