While Samsung has announced that they plan to release a successor of the Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung has never mentioned a name for this device. With the Galaxy S and Galaxy S2, it seems more than logical that the new phone will be called the Samsung Galaxy S3.
However, on the invite for the Samsung Unpacked event on May 3rd, Samsung is talking about the “Next Galaxy“. Could this next galaxy be the Samsung Galaxy S3? We still have no idea.
A few days ago, a member of XDA-developers found something interesting on the Samsung website. Could this be proof that the Samsung Galaxy S3 does exist?
The Samsung website
When you open your browser and type in an url to a page on the Samsung website that doesn’t exist, you will get the following error page:
This error page tells you that the page you where trying to visit doesn’t exist, and offers you a link to the Samsung website in your country.
However, something strange happens when you type in the following urls:
It looks like Samsung has manually (notice the typo in the url, it reads: glaxy-s-iii) set up a placeholder redirect on their website. Why would they do this if they aren’t planning to release an Samsung Galaxy S3?
In my opinion this is a good indication that Samsung is actually working on the Samsung Galaxy S3. Let’s hope Samsung will announce the Galaxy S3 on May 3rd!
